Isn't it interesting how food really does bring people together? That was the case with my friend Erik and his amazing Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. Back in 2010, we worked in the same department but different lines of business. When the area decided to host a potluck, I tried what was one of the best desserts I had ever had. Who is the owner of this recipe?! I searched around for this guy named Erik to further discuss the yumminess. When I found him, not only did he disclose his famous recipe, but he started a friendship of almost 4 years now. Give them a shot!
Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix
3 eggs, divided
2 sticks melted butter, divided
1 box (8oz) cream cheese
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 box (16oz) powdered sugar
Directions
1. Mix together yellow cake mix, 1 egg, and 1 stick of melted butter. Place on bottom of 9"x13" baking dish.
2. Mix together 2 eggs, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Pour on top of layer from step 1.
3. Bake for 45min in a preheated oven of 350.
4. Remove from heat, and wait a few minutes prior to serving. It is ok if the center is slightly gooey, hence the name.
