Leprechaun's Loot
Maniac Monday: Challenge- Girl Vs. Bread Pudding
To finish off an amazing multi-day St. Patrick's Day celebration, I have to share a famously delicious Irish dessert that I had the pleasure of eating at one of my Celtic band's gigs- bread pudding. The already yummy soda bread is soaked in a sugary cream, drizzled with whiskey soaked raisins and cinnamon, and baked. Our band, Irish Echoes, was on a 15min break and decided to partake in some of the festive food while mingling with the party go-ers. I knew I had to dance again soon, but I just couldn't resist the aroma of that authentic bread pudding and plopped quite a large serving onto my plate. To make it even more delicious, there was actual pudding to dip or drizzle your serving with. WOW, was it tasty! The best part about it, though, was that I got to enjoy it sitting next to an Irishman who was the guest of honor for the evening. He is rather elderly and very ill, and his daughter wanted to through him a big St. Paddy's Day party to celebrate his culture and favorite holiday of the year. I heard stories of his past, told stories of my Grandma's past in Ireland, and shared in the unique Irish food with him. Before I knew it, it was time to perform again. It made the night very special. I wanted to sneak some more bread pudding after the show was over, but it was all gone! I should have known it would be, though...
