To all of you beautiful mothers, I hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day celebrating with your family and friends. I am so blessed to have such a special woman in my life that I can call my best friend and Mom. Not only was this weekend special for her because of Mother's Day, but it is also her birthday today! Happy Birthday Mom! Since her birthday always falls near or on Mother's Day, my family has always known that we have to really kick our celebrations up a notch (even though she hates being the center of attention). We started the day off with brunch at Another Broken Egg, a new breakfast/lunch restaurant in our area. A family friend is the General Manager there, and it was definitely the place to be on Mother's Day. My mom and I ordered delicious mimosas to start off the meal, and the whole family shared a sweet appetizer of mini powdered sugar dusted beignets with a house-made orange-honey marmalade. These little pockets of fried dough were so warm and puffy, and the marmalade was the perfect compliment (not that they needed a compliment as they were so tasty on their own). Since we ordered something sweet to start with, I decided I would get something on the healthier side as my meal... until I saw the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. It was a special day, though, right? And even though I do not have people children, I have a puppy child, so I can celebrated Mother's Day too, right? I took the plunge and couldn't wait to try this menu item that combined 2 independently delicious items. The cinnamon rolls were sliced thinly and covered in berries and whipped cream all topped lightly with icing. Each bite melted in my mouth, and I had to have each member of my family sample it as well. A sweet brunch in honor of the sweetest lady I know- my mom.
