Have you ever seen desserts that look more like a beautiful work of art rather than something you want to dive into and eat? As much as I want to nearly inhale every dessert I come in contact with, I absolutely can appreciate the time, effort, and skill put into these types of classy treats. My family and friends were recently at an amazing place in Tampa, FL for lunch called Datz. I wish there were more of these types of places around, because the whole experience was fabulous. The decor in the small restaurant is very inviting and unique, and we wanted to spend the first few minutes just looking around at the chicken wire fencing for room dividers, countless beer taps on the shelves, culinary items hung from the ceiling, all different sorts of tables and chairs, and servers walking with huge portions of our favorite comfort foods. We couldn't wait to be seated. Then, out of the corner of my eye, on the other side of the restaurant was a grand bakery display, and my body started drifting over there without even thinking about it. Cupcakes the size of small cakes and cakes the size of what you could feed a whole party came in all different kinds and were so ornately decorated with rich looking frosting and toppings. YUM! In the next display were various kinds of candy, but they were those desserts that looked too beautiful to eat. So gorgeous in their style, you could not make out what flavor it was unless you read the label. Since I was stuffed to the brim after eating one of the best Reuben sandwiches and homemade chips I have ever eaten, I ordered 5 of the bite-sized art candy to take home but wish I could have gotten one of each! They were all amazing and even more fun to see how the flavoring looked on the inside. I also had way too much fun taking selfies with each one. I can't wait until my next trip to Tampa for another Datz experience!
