Tuesday's Tip
Are you a coffee or tea drinker? Do you drink it in the morning, at night, or both? What do you take in your coffee or tea? That third question is the question of the hour. Coffee and tea can be a healthy jump-start to your day, or it could leave with crashing hours later. They can be a great source of antioxidants to help protect your skin, or they can cause severe break-outs. However, it doesn't have anything to do with the coffee or tea itself but everything to do with what you put in it. Flavored creamer makes for a delicious coffee or tea treat to start your day, but there is so much sugar in it that it adds lots of calories and sugar. After time, your waist-line and face will suffer the consequences. I went through a phase recently where I craved coffee even though I have never enjoyed the taste (I'm not sure how that's possible considering I worked at a coffee shop for 2 years), so I would add lots of French vanilla creamer. It was delicious! A few days later, I was noticing that I was so tired in the late morning, and my skin was breaking out. The only thing that I was doing differently was drinking that sugary "morning beverage", so you better believe I went straight back to my morning tea, and my body has been thanking me ever since. Try substituting almond milk or whole milk for flavored creamer in coffee and honey for sugar in tea. These choices have the bit of flavoring you're looking for AND health benefits. How much extra "flavor" are you putting into your morning drinks?
