Strawberry Short, Err, Large Cake

Maniac Monday: Challenge- Girl Vs. Strawberry Shortcake ROUND 2

Last year, some of our great friends joined us on a camping trip at the cabins at Walt Disney World. We attended a deliciously southern style dinner complete with fried chicken, barbecue ribs, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, baked beans, corn bread, salad, bottomless sangria and beer, and the rootin' tootin' cutest country show there is at the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. Just when you didn't think a meal could get any better, dessert came out! Two enormous pieces of sponge cake with copious amounts of strawberries and strawberry sauce smothered in between them and topped with a gigantic dollop of whipped cream made its way to our table. It was to die for! Regardless of how full you were, you just couldn't put your fork down until that strawberry shortcake was long gone. We had such a great time last year that we decided to make it an annual event! This year, I knew exactly what to expect with the strawberry shortcake, and it was the only thing that made it ok that the meal was coming to an end. The strawberries were just as ooey and gooey as I had remembered smothered between those 2 beautiful pieces of moist sponge cake. I can't wait to continue this tradition of great food and great friends again next year!
