Healthy Hump Day Recipe
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You've heard that before, right? I just can't seem to get a big enough appetite that early in the day to have a breakfast that does that statement justice. Luckily, I have found a meal that is not that big but is still loaded with yummy and healthy things that help jump-start my day. The flavorings are optional and can be changed based on your taste, so make the day begin the way YOU want it to!
Boosting Breakfast Oatmal
Ingredients
-1/2 cup oats
-1 cup skim milk
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/4 cup raisins
Directions
1. Boil milk on stove top.
2. Immediately add oats at the slightest sight of a boil.
3. Stir frequently so as not to burn the milk for 2min.
4. Mix in cinnamon and raisins and let cook for another 3min, stirring frequently.
Healthy grain? CHECK. Dairy? CHECK. Fruit? CHECK. Day? BRING IT ON!
*Alternative add-ins
-1/4 cup pumpkin
-3 tbsp fruit preservatives
-1 tbsp peanut butter
-1/4 cup dried fruit
-1/2 ripe banana
*Using cinnamon sweetens this dish just as well as sugar, but cinnamon has been proven to help slim down waste lines unlike sugar which does the opposite.
