Shhh... They'll Never Know

Tuesday's Tip

"Eat your broccoli so you'll grow big and strong!", "Eat your spinach so you'll have muscles like Popeye!", "Eat your carrots so you'll have good eyes!"... Bla bla bla. We get it, veggies are a necessity in everyone's diets, but they just don't always taste that great... BUT THEY CAN! When combined with the right flavors that you love, you won't even know the vegetable is there.

My husband and brothers love smoothies, so we have them quite often. I always sneak in a handful of spinach when making smoothies. Although it turns the drink green, it only takes on the flavors of what else you put in it. To make it fun and to not weird out those I serve it to, I call them my Mystery Flavor Smoothies and have them guess what kind it is. They are always a hit!

Eggs are another great place to sneak in finely chopped veggies like onions, peppers, brocolli, spinach, and tomatoes. They turn this breakfast favorite bright colors to make it look even more delicious. When made as an omelet with cheese and other fixings, you won't even notice that you are getting a serving of fresh veggies as well.

Pasta sauces are also great places to hide veggies. Simply put a handful of veggies into a blender or food processor to puree them enough that they will mix right in and be hidden by the vibrant red pasta sauce.

What do you like to sneak your veggies into?
