I've been learning so many great things in my Fitness Nutrition Certification class. One of the most valuable things is how to be the most successful at weight loss, one of the most popular desires. Aerobic exercise, or high-intensity cardio workouts, is the best thing you can do. You've heard it before, right? Well, the reasoning is more than just because it burns a lot of calories. It also has to do with your metabolism for the hours following your workout. When you do get your heart rate up for longer than 10 consecutive minutes, your body is working hard to replenish your energy and allow you to continue. After you are done, your metabolism is significantly higher and continues to remain higher for hours after your workout is over because it is continuing to replenish your body of its energy. Do this on a regular basis (a few times a week), and your metabolism will naturally become faster. You've heard some people say things like, "Lucky you, you have fast metabolism," right? Well, luckily that doesn't have to be something that you inherit from thin family members. It's something you can train your body to have. So, get out there and go for 10 minutes, swim laps for 20 minutes, walk briskly for 30 minutes!
