Tuesday's Tip
Carbohydrates like bread, rice, and pasta sometimes get a bad reputation for being the reason that people are overweight, so people seem to cut their carb intake as a first means to shed those pounds. Although large amounts can most definitely add unnecessary weight, anything in excess can do the same thing. The real reputation that carbs should have is being the body's main energy source. Since balancing a healthy lifestyle involves getting in some sort of exercise every day, isn't it going to be hard for your body to get through an entire workout without the body's main source of energy being consumed? I always look at the Nutrition Facts labels for 2 things: 1) to see what they consider to be a sufficient serving size, and 2) that the words "whole wheat" are one of the first 5 ingredients listed. That means that the carbs that you are eating are the best carbs for you and will keep that feeling of being full longer. So, think twice before cutting carbs out of your diet.
