Mystery Flavor Smoothies

Healthy Hump Day Recipe

Way back when, I posted about ways to sneak veggies into recipes in which those eating will never know are loaded with good-for-you ingredients. Check it out! http://girlvssweets.blogspot.com/2013/10/shhh-theyll-never-know.html

With Spring in the air now and warmer temperatures all around, smoothies are going to become a regular thing in our house (especially since Seth loves them so much). What I love about smoothies is that there are TONS of different combinations you can make, and even the smallest alteration can create a completely different taste. One ingredient I do not alter in my smoothie recipe is the scoop of fresh spinach. That's right, a handful of leafy, bright green, nutrient loaded spinach. If you closed your eyes and sipped, you would never know there isn't anything more than fruity deliciousness. If you open your eyes, you'll see green! Since this leads to the picky eaters being a bit reluctant to give it a shot, I make it fun and call it my "Mystery Flavor Smoothie" in which they try to guess what the flavor is based on the taste, not the look. All it takes is 1 sip for them to become a believer and for you to know that you are giving them an incredibly nutritious meal or snack.

Mystery Flavor Smoothie

Ingredients

-1 sliced banana
-1 small cut up peach
-1/4 cup blueberries
-1/4 cup pineapple
-1/2 cup spinach
-1/2 cup milk

Directions

1. Load all ingredients into a Magic Bullet or blender and blend until completely smooth. (I usually use the puree setting.)
2. No more steps. That's right, this is a 1-step recipe! Now go enjoy your smoothie!

The ingredients (subject to change without notice)
Load them in!
Blend them up!
It's so green!
Drink it up!
*Add 1/2 cup ice prior to blending to make it colder!
*Switch out any and/or all fruits to create a totally different taste!
*Use frozen fruit if you do not have fresh fruit!
