It feels like it was just yesterday... I'm 18 years old, wanting to lose weight, motivated with my game plan of how to make it happen, and expecting to see results FAST. A week later, my clothes still fit the same, I'm frustrated with eating stuff that I don't even enjoy, and all of this exercise is cutting into my TV time. Hand me my chocolate, I give up! What was I thinking?
My mom always told me, "Patience is a virtue", and she was right. A healthy lifestyle change takes a long time, and patience and persistency is key. My success came from ever so tiny adjustments to my everyday life starting with walking to class instead of riding the bus, followed by portion control in an effort to save money, and continuing with daily workouts. It took months for me to even realize a change was taking place. Looking for a quick fix isn't going to allow you to have a lifetime success.
The Fit Focus- telling yourself you want to "get healthy", not "lose weight".
